Advertising - planning campaigns for long periods
Dear Bernd,
I have a question.
What would be the best practice for planning campaigns that run for long periods?
At the moment we have multiple advertisers who have campaigns running for 2 or 3 years.
I plan them for the complete running time in the campaign window (start date - end date), and then use dynamic overlay to schedule them in.
When I do this I do get the message that i'm planning for a long time, and if i'm sure to continue.
Is this the correct way to plan these ads?
I have noticed that lot of my advertising slots are already partially taken because of these long running campaings.
If i put in the correct start data and end data in the campaign window - then do dynamic overlay assignment - but only fill in 2 months (start date and end date) - would PFA replan automaticaly after those 2 months are over, until the end date in the campaign window has arrived?
If not, would that be a option for a upcoming update?
Regards,
Steve

Re: Advertising - planning campaigns for long periods
Depends on how you want to distribute/run the campaigns over time.
If the distribution can be fixed, i.e. the campaign run always at the same slots, you can simply assigned the respective Slots to that campaign: This is a very simple and standard way. Else, if they must be dynamic (i.e. alter the slots for each day) you can proceed as you described. You will just get but ignore the warning. But, it might take a little longer to generate and assign the slots dynamically. You can also assign the dynamic slots in chuncks, e.g. 8 time 3 months (to generate slots for 2 years)...
But no, you can not just fill in 2 months and ProppFrexx would replan the rest for your automatically.
