feat. or ft.?
feat. or ft.?
Hello Bernd,
last week I noticed that 2 songs, one by Rihanna alone and one where she is the featuring on a song from Calvin Harris, are played with only 1 hour difference.
How does the history checker checks these 'featuring' tags?
Songs are tagged like this:
Artist: Rihanna
Title: disturbia
Artist: Calvin Harris ft. Rihanna
Title: this is what you came for
Global History: 750
More global history settings: And what settings are you using?
Greetings Jesper

Re: feat. or ft.?
Multiple Artists needs to be either separated by semicolon (';') or comma ',' or by the following 'keywords:
" feat ",
" feat.",
" featuring ",
" pres ",
" pres.",
" presents ",
" star.",
" starring ",
" vs ",
" vs.",
" versus ",
" meets ",
" with ",
" and ",
" & "
So yes, the " ft. " keyword is currently not supported.

Re: feat. or ft.?
Changed all the tags with ft. in it to feat.
Now it plays all edited 'feat.' songs first without checking the history apperently.
last 24 hours it has played like 9 Pitbull songs;
like in the first hour:
Pitbull feat. Kesha - timber
Next Hour:
Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - on the floor
and so on.
Could this be the fact that the 'last recently played' and 'play counter' are reset when entering new tags? So it will play first the tracks never played without checking??
Global History 750
Scriptline: LastRecentlyPlayed

Re: feat. or ft.?
When you have activated the Global History, that will for sure be checked.
But... the history might contain your old, unrenamed entries and yes, thus renaming files resp. tags might invalidate these history entries of course.
Example:
Old Entry is: "Pitbull ft. XYZ" -> this will be seen and validated only as "Pitbull ft. XYZ"
New Entry is: "Pitbull feat. XYZ" -> this will now be seen and validated as "Pitbull" and "XYZ"
However, when you say, your History Count is set to 750 - could it also be, that now ALL of your script-line related tracks matches/violates the history and thus the last found entry is used regardless of this check?
How big is your media library and how many distinct Artists do your have in that media lib being used by that script-line?

Re: feat. or ft.?
could be indeed a history problem I think because when for example the new tagged pitbull plays it is in the global history but an hour later it will play another new tagged pitbull song.
First hour:
Pitbull feat. Christina Aguilera plays so is registred in global history
Second hour
Pitbull feat. John Ryan plays also even the song above is in the global history.
Media lib have various sizes. Smallest are the hits (68) and every hour 2 hits will be played for 18 hours a day.
And the biggest Oldies (2000+) with 4 an hour for 18 hours a day.
Zero's where the Pitbull song is from has 711 songs but only half will be used because of a filter' only between 2005-2013' and other script line is 'only between 2000-2005'
There are about 3 or 4 songs of the zero's played every hour for 18 hours a day.
Should I change my global history value to like the smallest library?
Edit:
Set my global history to 100. But now it has 2 songs of charlie puth in it:

Re: feat. or ft.?
Yes, either reduce the history setting/size or add the SuppressHistoryCheck option to the samller media libs

Re: feat. or ft.?
Ok I will try that! Will it also work the other way around? Use ForceHistoryCheck instead of SupressHistoryCheck?
So if I get this right:
If I set my global history to 50 and I use LastRecentlyPlayed with extented history check for artist like this: I will not play the same artist after 2 hours (based on 25 entries an hour times 2 = 50 global history because it is using the extended history check?

Re: feat. or ft.?
Yes, but you should also lower the Artist and Title numbers. Eg. 500 Artists wouldn't make sense.
The ForceHistoryCheck option wouldn't solve the issue in case all tracks of a media library violate the check

What artist and title number will make sense?
