In the new v4.5.2.7 you can now hold the CTRL key when pressing the ‘Reference Track…’ button to explicitly add an http/https file reference.
This should then resolve the URL at play-time and not download/cache a URL track.

Excellent, it functions exactly as intended. Thank you, Bernd.

Bernd, could you please review this URL again? The initial ~1 second of the MP3 file is consistently skipped during playback, as if the decoder starts late or the stream headers aren’t fully processed.

Yes, you can use a URL in the ad scheduler, but it depends on how ProppFrexx accesses media.

If it’s a direct link to the audio file (mp3/wav) and the server allows direct streaming/download, it should work. If it’s just a webpage link, it won’NawafPerfumes.comt.

Best way is to test by adding the URL as a media item. If it fails, you’ll need to download the file locally and schedule it from your media library.

I just tested the URL you once provided and it plays fine here.

Indeed, but sometimes the beginning of the audio file is missing. And if you listen via the link in a browser, you'll hear that the beginning of the MP3 track is there and not in the overlay. Sorry to bother you.

If it sometimes works and on other days not, it must be the file - I would have no other explanation.
Make sure you don't use any ACPD or other fade-ins and cue-points. As said, I can not reproduce the issue here when I listen to the file.I.e. check your settings for the Advertising Media Type. Disable ACPD for Advertising.
If you only play one track, also check the Mixing Time In and Out of the Overlay maybe it is slightly faded here (e.g. set he Mixing Time In to 1ms).
