Titel update encoder

Post by Bob Van Dongen »

Question: Is it possible to load this from a txt file in the encoder for the streaming title?

Kind regards, Bob van Dongen

? Not sure if I understand your question.

You can write a txt file from within ProppFrexx when you play a new track, so that an external encoder can read it.

The other way around doesn’t much sense.
But you can send a control-command to ProppFrexx to update the streaming title remotely.
But ProppFrexx doesn’t read in a txt file itself.

What I would like is the following. I write the titles of the players to a txt file via proppfrexx, this works fine. In that same file I overwrite the titles via push buttons with text via my D&R mixing console. I set this in the Gpio. I was able to load this into an external encoder and it works well. Since today I have been using the proppfrex encoder and I would like to use that Txt file there as title streaming.

So why don’t you send a control-command directly to ProppFrexx instead.
When using the ProppFrexx streaming you don’t need to write the txt file, as ProppFrexx directly uses the meta data of the player for any streaming title update.

I use more text lines than just what the players show as artist and title. By pressing D&R buttons on my mixing console via the Gpio of proppfrexx, for example, I can display a text with program name or telephone number as RDS text at declisters.

Yes, so where is the issue then?
But note, that ProppFrexx has no RDS decoder…

I don’t understand your issue.

Hi Bernd
The problem is that I now use the proppfrex encoder and cannot link the Txt file as title streaming. I was able to do that in my other encoder, but I prefer to use your encoder from now on.

As said, you don’t need that txt file!
Who writes that txt file?

When you are using ProppFexx for play out anyhow, all meta data are send to the encode directly and internally anyhow.
Sonwhy would you need that txt file?
As said, RDS info is anyhow not support by the ProppFexx encoder, as the internal encoder ‚only‘ streams to Shoutcast or ICEcast…

Regardless. The ProppFeexf encoder does not read in any external txt file!
If you want external info to be displayed in the stream title update of the ProppFrexx encoder, you need to use the related control-command.
