Writing cue points results in crash
Writing cue points results in crash
Hello all,
after editing cue points in the PFL player, I need to close the player to store the new cue points with the audio file. So far so good.
Whenever I try to close the PFL player, ProppFrexx suddenly shuts down (crashes ?) without any prior notice. This behavior happens with or without running in administrator mode. When I restart the program, the cue points have all been stored correctly.
V. 4.4.4.3 64Bit / Windows 11
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Writing cue points results in crash
Please take a look to the ProppFrexx Error.log file (also available from the Tools ribbon tab). Are there any entries in it related to this crash?
If not, it must be a system issue and a log entry must be recorded in the Windows Event Log. Please post this as well.
If non of the above is available - would also have no idea what it might be and I can only assume it is something funky onnyour machine going on, as so far no user reported such issue.

ProppFrexx Error.log is clean (non-existing), WIndows event.log states an Application error:

Re: Writing cue points results in crash
To be more specific: I can open and close the PFL player just fine repeatedly, as long as I do not want to save any tags. If the applications needs to store, it shuts down.
Re: Writing cue points results in crash
That is very strange, as the mentioned module (BassMix) is not involved in any TAG writing.
Can you maybe PM me the audio file in question and tell me what TAGs you modify… maybe I can somehow reproduce your issue.
The error however seems to sit somewhere in the audio library I am using, that’s why ProppFrexx can not record any error itself.

Re: Writing cue points results in crash
I have edited Start, Ramp, Ramp2 and Next. I tried it on 4 different tracks, all lead to a crash. I assume the file does not matter, but I will send you one file to check.
Re: Writing cue points results in crash
I tried your track, and here it is working just fine. E.g. I load the track to a playlist, double-click on it to invoke the PFL Player, change some cue-points and then close the PFL Player - nothing is crashing. This is really strange.
Can you maybe try the following - just to make sure, that the issue is not related to any funky settings:
- Close PF
- go to the ProppFrexx AppDataUser folder
- delete the file "ProppFrexx ONAIR.config" (make a copy first)
- Start PF
- try it again
This will kind of reset to all default values... if the issue is still happening - it must be something else... and you can restore your original config file.

Re: Writing cue points results in crash
Thanks for your reply, but deleting the config file sadly did not resolve the issue. I will try with the trial version on another machine and see what happens. In a few days I'll let you know. Other than that the app is rock solid!
