TCP/IP commands

I am currently still using a D&R Airlite, but I am planning to switch to a Bose DSP EX-1280 and use a custom-built application controlled via a touchscreen.

The Bose DSP allows me to send TCP/IP commands. Is it possible to use this protocol to send all the necessary commands to start players and cardwalls?

I am not sure whether I need to configure this under General Settings or in the GPIO client settings, nor how to configure everything else. Could you explain how to set this up?

I am also curious whether it is possible to send TCP/IP commands back in response to events or commands.

You can send via TCP/IP any control-command to ProppFrexx.
The control-command interface is explained here: viewtopic.php?t=12

So the answer is yes. But your Bose DSP needs to implement this protocol incl. the authorization.

From the Bose DSP, I can only send a TCP/IP (or UDP) command to an IP address and port number. I don't have the option to add a password or authorization command.

Does that mean it probably won't be possible?

The Authorization is basically also just a command/text which you send. You would have to try it. I can not tell upfront, as I don’t use that device.
Note the following:
  • Each line must end with a CRFL (\r\n)
  • Each command must end with a double CRFL (\r\n\r\n)
  • Each command is confirmed by an OK, if successful, or with the Error
  • If you want to keep the TCP connection open after a command, you have to send a PING at least every 5 sec. or the connection is closed
This is an example text/command you can send to test a single command:

Code: Select all

AUTHORIZATION password\r\n\r\nSHOW_ALERT_WINDOW ONLINE|You are now online!\r\n\r\n
