News and weather bed

Hello Bernd,
When I broadcast the news or the weather, the length of the bed never matches the length of the spoken segment. Is there a way to apply a fade on the bed that is automatically adjusted to the really length of the speech?
Thank you,
Claude.

Hi Claude,
You are right. As the length of the news or weather changes and is not known upfront, it can not match the length.
However, a soundbed is always looped, so that it will continue to play if the news/weather is longer. And it is stopped/faded-out, when the news/weather ends.
Or what do you mean by „…apply a fade…“?

Thank you for your reply. When you say that the bed stops when the news/weather ends with a fade-out, that is exactly what I wanted to know. In that case, I assume that the “Advert & News Management” tool must be used (and not a simple playlist like I do currently

).
So, to understand how it works, I did find a video that you created:

. However, I did not understand where I am supposed to place my MP3 fil (this one with the news which is regularly updated remotely via FTP). Could you explain me, please?

When you use the News and Advert Management you can either manually add News audio files (in which case ProppFrexx creates its own folder and imports the News audio files to it - when News are changing you can import the ‚new‘ News file) or you can add a News audio file as a reference - in which case you define the location yourself.
I guess the later is the better option for you.

So, if I understand correctly: for example, I create a News category and I name it “News 7:00 am”, then in the Opener field I put my file “Intro-news-7:00-a.mp3”, and in Closer I put my file “news-outro.mp3”. Then, in Soundbed, I put my file “news-bed.mp3”, and in the dropdown I select “News”. Finally, in News Track, I add a reference track file “news-7-30-am.mp3”.
Is that correct?
